Nothing pleases me more than taking five minutes out before bed, collecting my lovely products together and cleansing my face of all the impurities and dirt I have collected along the way during my day. I confess to having quite a few bottles of skincare products ( far too many really) and erratic skin so my night time skin routine changes up sometimes but I thought I'd post about what I did tonight because it was quite an enjoyable cleanse.
So, first of all I used my big bargain bottle of Bioderma, splashing some on a cotton wool pad to take my eye make up off and the top layer of my make up.This is great to take off all of your make up and to cleanse if you are in a hurry and I often just use this alone. If my skin is feeling particularly grimy or a bit congested I will use another cleanser after to double cleanse and I did so tonight, using Ren Clearcalm 3 Clarifying Cleanser. This cleanser is amazing. You just pump a small amount onto your hand and massage it onto your skin for a few minutes, washing off with warm water and a flannel. It is so deliciously creamy and the clay content really draws out the impurities in your face. My skin always feel like a freshly laundered, crisp shirt when I use it and I see a real difference in the visibility of my pores and blemishes afterwards. Unlike other cleansers, it doesn't leave you skin feeling red or tight and this is due to chamomile water. I think even if you used this just two or three times a week as a little detox treat, it would make a difference to your skin. Skincare hero Carolin Hirons loves it too so you know it's good stuff.
Then once I dried my face, I applied some Body Shop Vitamin E toner with another cotton wool pad. I have only just started using toner as I heard it was a really important step in skincare that people always miss out. I think toner got a bad rep back in the day but is having a form of resurrection. It is meant to prep your skin for moisturiser so you can achieve optimum hydration. I really like this Body Shop toner as it is soothing on my skin and smells lovely and I do think my skin has felt a bit softer since I started using it.
Then finally I apply a night cream and the one I used tonight is Body Shop's Nutriganics Smoothing Night Cream. This is a super hydrating night cream and when you apply it, even though it is a cream, it feels like an oil on your skin. It smells like olive oil which I don't mind but I think it might not be everyone's cup of tea. If you can ignore the smell, it is really effective and when I wake up in the morning, my skin has a little glow and feels really hydrated. It is reasonably priced too like most Body Shop products. Everything I have purchased from there recently has really impressed me and they always have sales on so look out for good deals.
So that was my night time skin care routine tonight and now my skin is feeling all happy I will get into my pj's and sit down to watch Celebrity Big Brother. Bonne nuit!
