For the past few months I have been suffering from painfully dry lips, so dry that they stick to my upper gums when I smile and create a gerbil face effect. I found this side effect of parched lips quite funny but not the pain and the flaky, sore skin that made it impossible to wear any lipstick or lick my lips. I tried lots of lip salves marketed as being excellent for dry lips and for restoring back their moisture but nothing really worked. As I am sure you find too, a lot of lip products provide temporary relief but after five minutes your lips just revert back to their sorry, dry selves.
Feeling a little frustrated in Tesco's one day whilst stacking my chilli prawns onto the conveyor belt, I noticed there was a big stack of Chapstick lip balms on sale for a pound. I thought for a pound I could have some temporary relief, not expecting much but even after the first application I felt a change in my lips. This lip balm is so soothing and instantly hydrating. When applying, it feels quite waxy in a good way and gives your lip a good natural sheen. I found after a day of using it my lips were pretty much back to normal. It does run out quite quickly but for only a pound it doesn't really matter plus it is so effective that after a few tubes you probably wont be needing too many more, just one in your handbag for every day use. This product also has SPF in which is marvellous as I think lips are often neglected in the sun protection area. I purchased the original but after looking on the Chapstick website I see they have a magical rainbow of other flavours so I will be experimenting.
